the others

Whilst the members of the Water Police are there through thick and thin, others drift in and out of their lives, many leaving a significant mark. Children, parents, friends, lovers and even other cops.

David Goldstein

David Goldstein was Rachel's son. He was a cheeky and cute young boy who loved his soccer. Although Rachel's ex-husband had custody of David, she saw him whenever she could. David loved her very much, but he said when he was with her he missed his dad and when he was with his dad he missed her. When David was 'accidentally' kidnapped along with his friend, Rachel was very scared and anxious, but all ended well. When she died, David was devastated.

Kevin Holloway

Detective Senior Constable Kevin Holloway was Frank's younger brother, a homicide cop. He was kind and friendly and excellent at his job. Kevin was a ladies man and was continually moving in and out with the latest love of his life, but he always ended up moving back in with Frank. Kevin and Goldie even had a one-night stand. When his body was found off The Gap, Frank found it hard to believe that Kevin had suicided. It was even more devastating to find out that he had been murdered by his partner, John Harrison.

Kevin
John Harrison

Detective Senior Sergeant John Peter Harrison - 'Knocker', the smooth talking, good looking, excellent homicide cop. He and Kevin were partners, Knocker and Frank had been best mates for years, and Rachel was in love with him. Nobody could believe it at first, but it was true: Knocker was corrupt, there was more money in drugs than policing. He had killed his partner and then gone on to eliminate the witnesses. He was killed by Rachel, miliseconds before he would have shot her.

John
Michael Jeffries

Michael Jeffries was a man Rachel met and believing her job turned men off, she told him she was a winetaster. However when a body was found at a wedding they were at, Michael soon found out that she was a detective. Michael was gorgeous, rich, fun, he owned a department store and he picked Rachel up from work every night. He asked Rachel to marry him and promised he'd make her happy - or at least try. But she said she didn't think she could get married - ultimately choosing her job over Michael.

Michael
Louise Bradshaw

Louise Bradshaw was an undercover cop. She and Frank worked together on an armed robbery case - Frank posing as a criminal and Louise as his fiancee. Their working relationship wasn't all smooth sailing, but later their personal relationship developed. They split up and then got back together again and at the end of the day they were good together. However their romance came to an abrupt end when Louise was fatally wounded in a shoot-out between drug dealers.

Louise
Sophie Ferguson

Sophie Ferguson turned up at the Water Police station one day, claiming to be Jack's daughter. Jack couldn't believe it at first, but it was true. She was confident, opinionated and independent. She and Jack slowly got to know each other and Sophie later decided to train as a police officer. Never content to sit and observe, she liked to jump right in where the action was, or take initiative and investigate when things looked suspicious.

Sophie
Julia Goodwin

Detective Inspector Julia Goodwin was a beautiful cop whom Jack met when both were in a beachside town to interview the same man. The extent of the night life being a darts competition, they had a few bottles of wine and fell into bed together. She turned up soon after to work with the Water Police on a serial killer case. She was talented and determined, bordering on obsessive with this case. After the case was solved, Julia took up an attachment with the FBI and the romance was over.

Julia
Eva Minton

EvaThe boys on the Nemesis rescued Eva Minton when the wash from a cruiser overturned her kayak. She and Gavin hit it off straight away and the other Rats were surprised when before too long, they moved in together and later got engaged. However in her past a friend had been kidnapped in Darwin and Eva had moved from place to place ever since and she was petrified when the Rats were trying to catch the man believed responsible for it and other deaths around the country. When the case was solved, she went home, where she had been too afraid to go before; although Gavin was scared she may not come back, she did and announced she was pregnant with their baby. They married and the baby was born as Gavin recovered from a near-fatal shooting incident - the only happy ending ever in Water Rats.
